Dr. Nations, DVM, DABVP
Speaker
Dr. Loren Nations is a board-certified veterinary practitioner, entrepreneur, visionary, and lifelong advocate for advancing veterinary medicine. Dr. Nations earned his BS in Microbiology and his DVM from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. He went on to complete a medical and surgical internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York before founding Veterinary Healthcare Associates and co-founding AscendVets, a combined network of six veterinary practices providing wellness, 24/7 emergency and critical care, and referral specialty services in Central Florida.
Over his 30+ year career, Dr. Nations has specialized in internal medicine, oncology, and cardiology, while pioneering integrative approaches that unite conventional care with metabolic and functional medicine. His journey into metabolic therapies began more than a decade ago, when a family cancer diagnosis compelled him to explore the emerging metabolic theory of cancer. That path led him into collaboration with thought leaders such as Dr. Thomas Seyfried, Dr. Dominic D’Agostino, and Dr. Nasha Winters, where he became the only veterinarian in rooms full of pioneers of human metabolic health.
Since then, he has helped translate metabolic science into veterinary medicine by integrating ketogenic therapeutic nutrition, hyperbaric oxygen, IV vitamin C, mistletoe, herbal compounds, microbiome therapies, and repurposed drugs into practice. His vision to “put a dent in cancer for both people and pets” has shaped not only his clinical work but also the creation of his 20,000 sq. ft. Referral Specialty and Emergency Center, opened in 2023.
Today, as Co-Founder and CEO of Neoterric, Dr. Nations is leading a movement to reimagine veterinary care beyond his doors. Neoterric is built on the principles of metabolic health, whole-being wellness, and uncompromising integrity with a platform designed to give pets not just longer lives, but better ones. His philosophy is simple: Pets deserve better. Better nutrition. Better science. Better futures.

Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine Energetics of Food: How to Choose the Right Food for Your Pet
Food for behavior uses TCVM (Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine) food therapy to balance the body and help defuse issues. TCVM Energetics plays very nicely with the behavior one. I would do the energetics first, followed by behavior. It's from a very basic standpoint, walking the pet owner through the basics of TCVM food energies (cooling, neutral, warming) of types of food (raw, cooked, kibble) and different foods (meats, vegetables, fruits) and how to use those energetics to balance the pet and help them overcome symptoms they might have related to being fed the wrong way. For instance, a hot dog who drinks a lot, pants a lot, sleeps on cold tile floors and is being fed dry kibble that is lamb and rice is being fed energetically hot food like throwing paper on a fire. Feeding cooling foods will balance the dog and help eliminate symptoms and problems.
Day 2
Six Ways to Keep Pets Naturally Healthy
Covers vaccines (which ones, how often, options), natural alternatives to chemicals, species-appropriate diets, mental health, grooming, and veterinary care.

How Metabolism Influences your Dog's Health
This presentation will explore how metabolism influences your dog's health, using ketogenic diets as a starting point to explain how the body uses energy and why metabolic health matters. We'll cover common metabolic problems in pets today, how nutrition can support or strain the body, and why many chronic issues are rooted in metabolic imbalance. We'll also discuss the role of fiber, when it can be helpful and when it may not, and how thoughtful supplementation can support your dog's metabolism and overall well-being, rather than simply addressing symptoms as they arise.

Just Say No to Drugs, and Yes to Plants and Fungi
Day 1 Talk
The Endocannabinoid System, Pain, Cancer, Aging, and Why Plants Matter
Your pet already has a built-in system designed to regulate pain, inflammation, immunity, mood, and healing. Most pet parents have never heard of it. In this talk,
Angela Ardolino breaks down the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) in simple, practical terms: what it is, why it matters, and why it is the master regulatory
system behind nearly every chronic and age-related condition we see in pets today.
You'll learn:
This session also introduces the role of brain health and nootropics in aging, including insights from the
Senior Dog Study, which showed meaningful cognitive improvement in senior dogs without harmful side effects.
You'll begin to understand why cognitive decline is not "normal aging," why early support matters, and why senior beings need
daily support for the brain, nervous system, and overall resilience.
If you've ever felt like there has to be a better way than "manage and medicate," this talk will change how you see health.
Day 2 Talk
Medicinal Mushrooms: Food, Medicine, and the Missing Link in Pet Health
Medicinal mushrooms are not supplements. They are not trends. They are some of the most studied, clinically relevant, and
biologically intelligent tools we have for supporting long-term health. In this talk, Angela Ardolino dives deep into
functional and medicinal mushrooms, explaining why fungi are foundational to immune health, brain health, gut health, cancer
support, and longevity for both humans and animals.
You'll learn:
This session reframes mushrooms as one of the most important tools for modern health. You'll leave understanding why whole fungi, used correctly, can do what no synthetic drug can replicate.
What These Two Days Will Give You
By the end of this two-day experience, pet parents will understand:
