Dear Washington Pet Community,

We are sending you an urgent message bringing a serious matter to your attention that could negatively impact your pet’s health and we need your assistance.

A bill recently passed in the Washington State Senate & House of Representatives that will make many CBD hemp products illegal to sell anywhere in Washington State; including your local independent pet stores.

We are deeply concerned about recent amendments to this bill reducing the maximum THC threshold from 0.3 percent to "any detectable THC." By reducing the threshold to zero, this would effectively BAN ALL CBD hemp products on the open market, including those sold at our pet stores, even though they contain negligible and safe amounts of detectable THC.

To be super clear, we are NOT talking about cannabis marijuana that can be intoxicating. This is about access to very SAFE, efficacious and beneficial cannabis hemp plant products. (Cannabis is the parent plant species to hemp and marijuana - see definition below.*)

So, you may be asking what will this mean for my personal household or my pets? Ultimately this outcome would be devastating. Many of our customers rely on CBD hemp products daily to support the health of their beloved pets with things like cancer diagnosis, severe allergies, separation anxiety, behavioral aggression, chronic pain, or even idiopathic seizures - just to name a few.

We need your help with 2 things – it will take less than 5 minutes!!
1. Please sign the petition to stop this bill: Petition · Stop the Washington Ban on CBD | Kill WA Bill E2SSB 5367 · Change.org
2. If you or your pets rely on the health benefits of full spectrum CBD products, we urge you to contact Gov. Inslee asking him to veto SB 5367.
Send Gov. Inslee an e-message

Thank you for your consideration and taking action alongside us.
*Hemp and marijuana are both the same cannabis plant species. Much like lemons and oranges are both citrus fruits. Legally, hemp is defined as a cannabis plant that contains 0.3 percent or less THC, while marijuana is a cannabis plant that contains more than 0.3 percent THC. Drastically different amounts of CBD or THC can be derived from both plants.

**While we wait to find out where everything lands with the bill, we, unfortunately, need to limit in-store purchases to 2x per customer. However, we are recommending customers place a special order ASAP for our next CBD orders. We ask that your order be placed by Tuesday, May 9th since we’ll be submitting (possibly final) orders at the end of that week. We are a very small business and we will need to require these special orders be prepaid at the time you request it.

Sincerely – Amy Barker and your Team at Prairie Dog Pet Mercantile, Spokane WA
